Just because warmer weather is on the horizon, it's no excuse to stop your wine education. To ensure that you are excited to keep learning we have scheduled some fantastic talent for you in the coming months. As you know our events do sell out. Please if you would like to join us register! These wine education events include wines, both white and red, food to pair and discounts for purchases made that evening. Unlike our Thirsty Thursdays
these require you be in your seats at start time and offer our guests your full attention. Thank you!
We had the recent opportunity to taste with wine maker Morgan Lee of Two Vintners and Covington Cellars. Clearly the man can make wine. Our rep in knowing the focus of bayleaf steered us to the fun, food friendly wines of Morgans portfolio. As you can see below, we think it's a match made in heaven. Join us Saturday June 16th at 4pm, register in the shop or here.
Two Vintners project and Wine at Two Vintners is about the experience.
Branching out. Trying new styles. New varietals. We want to expose you to wines that show how unique Washington wine can be. Our goal is to make a wine that you want to share with your friends and family. We want our wine to be shared, experienced, and accessible to all, something special that everyone will enjoy.
Our goal is not only to be the best at what we do, but to be the only ones doing what we are doing
Please join us for a tasting of Southern Italian wines, Jesse of Indie Wineries will be on hand. We are very excited to pour warmer weather whites and reds from Campania and Sicily, including the wines of San Giovanni, Vino di Anna and Tentua la Favola. Even though the climate is hotter, these wines retain their freshness and brightness, perfect for summer weather! June 30th Saturday 4pm, register in the shop or here.
From the winemakers - it is a sense of place...
When Corrado goes down the northern side of the hill to reach the olive grove, Mt. Etna salutes him. If he goes down along the southern side, all he can see is the deep blue of the seas in front of him. The paths among the vineyards are calcareous-white and at night time with a full-moon, our land shines. He’s not completely wrong when he says he lives in paradise.
There is something magical, if not a little crazy about cultivating grapes on the slopes of Mount Etna, Europe’s highest and most active volcano. The continuous smoke emerging from the centre crater is but a daily reminder of its precarious state.
Punta Tresino is located within a natural reserve. Isolated in the wood, the estate is only a few steps from the sea. When Ida and Mario first moved to the farmhouse on the property in 1999 there was no electricity, no internet connection, no phone, and no cellular reception. Since then they have been working to make their new home habitable, and their farm productive. It’s been a challenging workload, but with great rewards.
So happy to be welcoming back Nina Buty of Buty Winery. Many of you are familiar with her wines and how beautiful they are. This tasting is a fantastic opportunity to taste with the owner, understand what goes into each bottle and appreciate the bounty of what Washington wines can be. Don't miss this - Nina promises to bring a few surprises! July 7th Saturday 4 pm,register in the shop or here.
Nina approaches life and making wine with a similar philosophy, and sees the two as deeply
interwoven. “Buty is a small, family winery,” says Nina. “My children play in the vineyards, and our
growers and customers have become our friends. There is a wonderful flow and rhythm between
life and work. With so few hard edges between the two, I try to be very aware of the
interconnectedness of all the elements that contribute to Buty. All of the decisions that shape Buty
are very intentional. Whether we are farming organically, creating wines using natural
winemaking, or making decisions about pricing, we strive for balance and a sense of service and
fairness.”
